Dr. Kelli Wofford's journey to becoming a veterinarian began in Zelienople, a charming small town north of Pittsburgh.
She discovered her love for animals early, working at a mixed-animal practice at just 15 years old. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Penn State University in 1996, she continued to the University of Pennsylvania for vet school, graduating in 2000, earning her the prestigious title of “Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris”, or VMD.
Her career has been as dynamic as her love for animals. Starting out as a swine veterinarian (yes, pigs!) in North Carolina, Dr. Wofford later transitioned to small animal medicine in 2003. Over the years, she’s cared for pets in communities across the state, from Raeford to Southern Pines. Her soft spot? Rescue animals. Dr. Wofford takes joy in nursing less fortunate dogs and cats back to health and seeing them thrive in their forever homes.
Dr. Wofford loves the variety of small-town general practice, where no two days are the same. She tackles everything from medicine to surgery with a compassionate heart and skilled hands.
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Wofford can be found cheering on her favorite teams (Go Steelers, Penguins, Hurricanes, and Nittany Lions!), diving into a fantasy novel, or exploring new destinations with her husband and travel buddy, Ralph. Married in 2004, the couple loves adventuring together, especially now that Ralph is retired.
Dr. Wofford is also a proud stepmom to Jeremiah, a fitness pro in Charlotte, and Jourdan, a senior services specialist in Eagle Springs, and a doting grandmother to Lucy and Atlas.
Of course, no vet’s life would be complete without a menagerie at home! Dr. Wofford’s “fuzzy posse” includes her loyal pups Gizmo, Buttons, Rufus, and Penny, who love lake walks and beach days. The feline royalty—Sambo, Thor, and Ernie—run the household (and neighborhood) with their unique charm, each with a story as colorful as their personalities.
Whether she’s caring for patients, cheering at a game, or wrangling her own four-legged family, Dr. Wofford’s life is a delightful mix of love, laughter, and plenty of paw prints!
